Past Indefinite Tense

》Identification (Pehchan):

The end of an Urdu or Hindi sentence contains:
1) Tha e.g.
Woh cricket khelta tha. (Singular+Male)

2) Thi e.g.
Woh cricket khelti thi. (Singular+Female)

3) The e.g.
Ali aur Akbar cricket khelte the. (Plural)

4) Tha e.g.
Main cricket khelta tha. (Singular)


》Form of Verb (Fel ki Surat):


Second form of verb (V-II)

Played


》Helping Verb (Imdaadi Fel):


Did: -> I, We, You, They+Plural Noun He, She, It + Singular Noun

》Formula:


Simple Sentences:

In English:
Subject+V-II +Object+.
He Played Football.

In Urdu/Hindi:
Subject+Object+Verb+H.V.+.
Woh Football khelta tha.

More examples:
He watched T.V. (Woh T.V. Dekhta tha.)

They read books. (Woh kitabein parhte the.)

The bird flew in the air. (Parindah hawa mein urta tha.)

Negative Sentences:

In English:
Subject+Helping Verb+Not+V-I+Object+.
They did not cook food.

In Urdu/Hindi:
Subject+Object+Nahi+Verb+H.V.+.
Woh khana nahi pakate the.

More examples:
He did not drive a car. (Woh car nahi chalata tha.)

She did not go to college. (Woh College nahi jati thi.)

Aslam and Akbar did not operate computer. (Aslam aur Akbar computer nahi chalate the.)

He did not write a letter. (Woh khat nahi likhta tha.)

Interrogative Sentences
(Question Sentences):

In English:
Helping Verb+Subject+V-I+Object+?
Did they cook food?

In Urdu/Hindi:
Kiya+Subject+Object+Verb+H.V.+?
Kiya Woh khana pakate the?

More examples:
Did he drive a car? ( Kiya woh car chalata tha?)

Did she go to college? (Kiya Woh College jati thi?)
