Past Continuous Tense
》Identification (Pehchan):
The end of an Urdu or Hindi sentence contains:1) Raha tha e.g.
Woh cricket khelraha tha. (Singular+Male)
2) Rahi thi e.g.
Woh cricket khelrahi thi. (Singular+Female)
3) Rahe the e.g.
Ali aur Akbar cricket khelrahe the. (Plural)
4) Raha tha e.g.
Main cricket khelraha tha. (Singular)
》Form of Verb (Fel ki Surat):
First form of verb (V-I) with ing.e.g.
Play+ing=Playing
》Helping Verb(H.V.) (Imdaadi Fel):
Were -> We, You, They+Plural NounWas -> I, He, She, It + Singular Noun
》Formula:
Simple Sentences:
In English:Subject+Helping Verb+V-I+ing+Object+.
He was Playing Football.
In Urdu/Hindi:
Subject+Object+Verb+Helping Verb.
Woh Football khel raha tha.

He was watching T.V. (Woh T.V. dekh raha tha.)
They were reading books. (Woh kitabein parh rahe the.)
The bird was flying in the air. (Parindah hawa mein ur raha tha.)
Negative Sentences:
In English:Subject+H.V.+Not+V-I+ing+Object+.
They were not cooking food.
In Urdu/Hindi:
Subject+Object+Nahi+Verb+H.V.
Woh khana nahi paka rahe the.

He was not driving a car. (Woh car nahi chala raha tha.)
She was not going to college. (Woh College nahi ja rahi thi.)
I was not plucking flowers. (Main phool nahi torr raha tha.)
Aslam and Akbar were not operating computer. (Aslam aur Akbar computer nahi chala rahe the.)
He was not writing a letter. (Woh aik khat nahi likh raha tha.)
